The Emergency Management and Critical Incident Plan outlines how Northside Christian College prepares for, responds to, and recovers from emergencies and critical incidents. It applies to all staff, students, visitors, contractors and volunteers and prioritises the safety, wellbeing and care of everyone involved.

The plan provides clear guidance on how emergencies are reported, who coordinates responses, and how communication occurs during an incident. The Principal is the Incident Controller, with responsibility transferring to the Deputy Principal if required. Clear roles and lines of authority ensure coordinated, calm and effective responses.

Staff are expected to follow colour-coded emergency announcements and procedures, including evacuation, lock-in, lock-out and shelter-in-place responses. Teachers prioritise supervision, student safety and roll marking, while leadership coordinates emergency services, communication and welfare support.

The plan also includes detailed procedures for specific emergencies such as fire, intruders, hazardous spills, severe weather, earthquakes and pandemics. These procedures support quick, consistent decision-making and minimise risk.

This plan relies on staff awareness, regular drills and shared responsibility. In any emergency, remaining calm, following instructions and focusing on student safety are essential.
