The Student Anti-Harassment and Bullying Policy outlines Northside Christian College’s commitment to providing a safe, respectful and caring learning environment grounded in Christian values. The College has zero tolerance for bullying and harassment, recognising every student’s right to feel safe, valued and treated with dignity.

The policy clearly defines bullying and harassment as a misuse of power that causes harm and outlines the many forms it can take, including physical, verbal, psychological, cyber, sexual and exclusionary behaviours. Preventing bullying is a shared responsibility across staff, students and parents. Staff are expected to model respectful behaviour, actively supervise, respond promptly to concerns and follow established procedures.

When bullying occurs, the College uses a restorative practice approach that focuses on stopping the behaviour, supporting those affected, helping students understand the impact of their actions, and restoring relationships where possible. Incidents are documented, parents are informed, and behaviour is monitored. Repeated or serious bullying is escalated to senior leadership and may result in suspension or expulsion.

The policy aligns with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and reinforces staff obligations to protect students, support inclusion and act whenever concerns arise. Speaking up early is essential to student safety and wellbeing.
